Summer test - 6th/ 7th grade (One Direction theme)

Summer time should also include a bit of "English time" :) This (4 pages) worksheet  is basically a reading comprehension work.
The theme I've chosen is "One Direction" because many of my students (specially girls) are crazy about them.

There's one exercise on vocabulary about camping and a writing task based on physical/ psychological description.

I'm now uploading all my worksheets on PDF format. Should you need to edit them please send me an email so I can send them to you in another format.

Here's the email: teaching.frenzy@gmail.com

Test on: Family - 5th grade (with Miley Cyrus)

Here you go,
A test for the 5th grade about family words with The Simpsons and Miley Cyrus as the "Characters".
It's a five page test and the main targets are:
  • family words
  • in/on - prepositions of time
  • Possessive adjectives - my, your, his ...
The students really enjoyed the fact that the test contemplated Miley Cyrus. The week I gave this test was the same week of Miley's concert in Portugal so the impact was even bigger. I do advise you to try to add something about your students’ idols when preparing a test or worksheet. It somehow breaks a bit their anxiety towards the task.

ps. The first page is a listening exercise. I wrote a text myself and read it so that the sudents could find out where each public place was.

English test - daily routine - 6th grade

The last days of the first term were quite troubling for me. Suddenly I was surrounded by papers I’d never seen before and asked to do tasks I hardly knew how. Luckily it went out well. I did all the paper work and now I know how to deal with all that. Evaluations, reports… Well, by the time I would get home I’d be so tired that the last thing I wanted was to sit by the computer again…

I had some days to rest. I spent Christmas with my family (as I think it’s supposed to be) and now I’m back home again.

I came to the conclusion that I forgot to post my last 6th grade test. I’ll post it now.
It’s about daily routine, adverbs of frequency, prepositions of time and telling time.
I had very good results on this test. I was actually surprised because I thought it was a bit demanding. My students went really well in general.
Here it is:

5th grade Test 2 - 2009

This was the second test I’ve given to my 5th graders. The topics which are tested here are the verb to be; personal pronouns; This/these; and the numbers from 1 to 20.

It took me a long time to put this all together but I guess the result was pretty pleasant.
The book I’m working with in the 5th grade is “The English Train” by Oxford University Press.

As for grammar topics: It focuses on the verb to be, the verb to have got and the article a/an.
