Halloween worksheet 2013

October is the month of Halloween.

It isn't a Portuguese tradition but it's becoming more and more popular as we tend to contemplate it in our English lessons.

Here are some topics which can be easily associated with Halloween:

  • Parts of the body (skeletons, monsters, witches)
  • Parts of the House ( haunted houses)
  • Animals (day and night animals for example)
  • Colours
  • Feelings (scared, happy, sad...)
  • Food ( trick or treat ... candy, sweet :) )
  • International traditions
  • ...

This worksheet is mostly a speaking activity. It is thought to be a support for a repetition activity using simple expressions which should be said with different intonations in order to help the students identify the correct picture.

Please leave your comments bellow.

Easter project in 5 steps

Here is my suggestion for this Easter:
Marbled eggs!

It consists on painting eggs with a marbling effect technique.

This is a project that precedes the egg hunt my students are going go on with me and their PE teacher at the end of this week.

Step 1:

Glue a wooden skewer on (empty) egg using a hot glue gun.

Step 2:

Fill a plastic bowl with water. (make sure it's an old bowl that you can dye with paint)

Step 3:

Drop some glass paint drops into the water.

Step 4:

Mix the colours softly and slowly with the tip of a wooden skewer.

Step 5:

Finally, immerse the eggs in the water (making sure the children don't touch the paint), and pull them out slowly.

And Voila!

PS. I must thank my student Mariana, who, after painting her egg, was the super professional photographer documenting the entire process! So, Thank you Mariana!
