Lyrics - worksheet

On this worksheet, you have the lyrics of the song of the previous video. It is a gap filling exercise. It's not difficult although the song is long. My3rd grade students succeeded on doing this!

Wind is blowing clothes away... - Video

I hope you'll enjoy this song! I've found it on YouTube and used it already in class! It is very repetitive and although it's a bit long, it doesn't get the kids bored!

New patches for old - Story

Hello everyone!

I'm here to tell you about a story.
I've used this story with my 3rd graders! They loved it!They were curious all the time, wanting to know what was hidden in the next pages.
It is a great story to tell when we are teaching clothes. The main character is Hasan he bought new trousers for a special celebration but the trousers are too long. He asks his wife, daughter and mum for help. What happened??
You must read the story ;)
It is funny!!

Mrs. Pickaboo needs new shoes - Story

Here is another PowerPoint with a great story to tell while teaching clothes.
It's a 4 page story about a ladybug who wants to go to a party but has got no shoes. She goes to the shoemaker and tries many different shoes...
The rest you have to read for yourselves :D
This story is also from the magazine: "The teacher's magazine"
It worked well with my first graders.
There are plenty of follow up activities we can develop after this story...
Please tell me what you think!

Poster about clothes.

Hi there everybody!
My students have built this poster about clothes. They coloured and cut the clothes. Now this poster is hanging on the wall and the students can change the doll's clothes every time they want, the way they wish. There's only one rule. All clothes must be placed above their "word" labels  This way the kids can play and still associate the words with the pictures even without knowing they are "studying".
I prefer this kind of "pro-active" posters to the "static" ones.

Clothes' patterns - 4th grade

Here you have one more WS about clothes. This time, the purpose is to make students practice clothes' descriptions.
The image was taken from "The teacher's magazine" (-as most of the times:) )
I hope it is usefull. I'll be waiting for your comments.
I see there's a lot of people downloading my materials, I'm happy about that but I'd be even more happy if I got some more feedback. Did you use them with your students? Did it work? Did you find any incorrections?... Please let me know.
You can use the "bla, bla, bla" chat box or simple comment under this post :)
Have a nice FRIDAY

Clothes worksheet for 1st grade

With this Worksheet it is possible to make a revision about "colours" and "family" vocabulary.
It requires reading. I used it with my first graders but we did it step by step. I'd read the instructions and they'd answer what colour they had to use and where.
I hope It's a good resource...

Clothes worksheet for 4th grade

Hey there!
Although it is sunday, and I should be resting, or having fun, I've decided to come here and make one more worksheet for my pupils!
This one is about clothes. That's the topic I've been teaching since last week.
I'm going to give this one to my 4th graders after I teach them more vocabulary about clothes. Such as "dotted", "checked", "striped"...
With this worksheet I'm making also a revision about body characteristics...
Well, I guess it's all for now!
Hannie
Ps. I just want to wish a happy mother's day to all my brazilian readers ;)

Clothes - activity

Here is a new activity which I used with my students today:
First, there were a boy and a girl on the board.
Then, I told the kids that we should dress them according to the weather...
I put the clothes on the board and as I did so, I asked the kids: "What's this?.."
After we've been through all the clothes, I asked some kids - one by one - to come to the board and follow my instructions. For example:
"Put the red skirt on the girl".. they had to look for the red skirt and stick it on the girl...
With this activity I explored vocabulary about the clothes, about colours and about the weather.
It was very nice to see all the kids wanting to participate and to help the ones who were having some doubts.
Notes: The pictures (boys and clothes) were taken from "THE TEACHER'S MAGAZINE"
The frames I've used here were taken from the great blog: http://rocha2goretty.blogspot.com

Clothes - Video

This video is from youtube. I've used it to introduce the topic "clothes".
