Rocket Math - Building Our Fact Fluency

One of our big goals this year is to master our multiplication and division facts.  We practice everyday using Rocket Math.

Each student has a red three pronged folder (you could use any color) with a sheet protector in it.  I started each student out with set A for multiplication.  They use a dry erase marker to solve the problems.  As they pass, I simply change out the sheet inside - saves me a tremendous amount of time standing in front of the copier.

The Rocket Math program advocates a verbal practice as well as written practice, so we practice saying the facts and the answer out loud for 1 minute and 30 seconds. We then write the answers as fast as we can for the next 1 minute and 30 seconds.

If the student finishes before the timer, they raise the folder above their head and I collect it.  If they don't pass, the folder goes home for homework that night.

Our school has purchased the Rocket Math program, but you could do the same thing with any other program such as Mad Minutes or the pages below.
