Spaghetti & Meatball Conjunctions! Using although, however, and but!

I am always getting requests for more materials for older students.  I am always looking for ways to help my older students understand and use new vocabulary concepts to expand their verbal and written expression.  Introducing, my newest creation, Spaghetti & Meatball Conjunctions!  I took 3 conjunctions I found was a great way to start with expanding utterances.  They were the easiest to illustrate and teach.  I like to work on these once they comprehend and use independently the conjunctions: and, or, because, and so.

In this file:
-Visual to teach the conjunctions

-Cloze Sentence Card Game:  Students will pick a card and complete the sentence using the appropriate conjunction.  Students can use the visual to help them.  If they pick the “fork” card, they will lose a turn.  The student with the most cards at the end of the game is the winner.

-Sentence Combining Fun:  Students will pick a card and read the two sentences provided.  They must understand the relationship between the two sentences in order to combine them using one of the target conjunctions.  Each card has a point value.  At the end of the game, the students can add up their points to determine a winner!

-Practice Worksheet: Students will practice and review their understanding of the conjunctions to complete cloze sentences provided.

-Writing Conjunctions:  Students will look at the picture.  Then they will be able to write sentences using the conjunctions however, although, and but.
