Verbal Reasoning: App Review!

I was recently contacted by Virtual Speech Center about their newest app, Verbal Reasoning.  This app is perfect for those working with older elementary and older students.  Keep reading to learn more about this great app:

This app is easy to use and navigate.  If you are familiar with other Virtual Speech Center apps, it follows a similar layout/format.  It isn't "too cutesy" since it is designed for older students.

Here are some settings you can alter according to your students' needs:

You can enter in student profiles and use it with multiple students at a time.  Once you are ready, you can check off the names of the students in the group and hit next to decide which stimuli you want to work on.

You can select multiple stimuli per student and you can work on different goals for the different students in the group.  I recommend in one session to work on just one per student.  You can select receptive (multiple choice) and expressive options (no choices).

Activities included:
- Identifying problems, possible causes, and solutions
- Stating problems, possible causes, and solutions
- Identifying what will happen next
- Predicting what will happen next
- What would you do if…?
- What would happen if…?
- Stating pros and cons
- Stating similarities and differences between items
- Answering why-questions
- Answering negative wh-questions

Once you have selected the activities, it is time to play/work!  The students switch off answering/responding.  Real images and situations are used which is great.

I set my activity that after 5 tries, the students will each individually be rewarded with the puzzle game.  The game is motivating and challenging (even I had some trouble HA!).

Once you are done with the tasks or just ready to be finished, you can click done to receive the score report.  On one page, you get the all the reports for the group worked on.

At any time, you can access the puzzle games and the score reports from the main screen:
